Great work Sarith on getting published in Materials Horizons!

We want to congradulate Sarith on getting his work published in Materials Horizons! For years, people have been focusing on using liposomes from drug delviery, however little attention has been paid to how to lipids interact with the body and extracellular matrix once they get in. Sarith found, with his model lipsomes, that these vesicles undergo a change from a sigle walled vessel to these multiwalled onion like structures. These structural changes are cruical to investigate so we can see how our drug delviery systems may be impacted and can be better engineered for better therapuetic outcomes.

After a little over 5 years, and having moved labs twice, once to a nother country, Yi finally earns her title as Dr. Her work on pushing the biosensoring world into the area of cell integration will make a stand for years to come. We look forward to seeing Yi back at the lab to visit at the end of July and wish her the best of luck with her future career!

Here's a photo of Sarith with Professor Maria Kavallaris receiving his award for the best presentaion at 10th International Nanomedicine Conference. He gave a wonderful tak on how the ECM in our bodies may actually be restrucutring the drug loaded liposomes that the community has been using for years, suggesting that we may need to rethink how we design some of our nanocarriers.

We are giving a big shoutout to our Student Phuong Le who just got her work published in Nature Communications. She is co-advised by both Kris and Andrew Smith back at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Phuong's work here is the first paper to allow single cell counting of growth factors and other soluble factors in cells, opening up many new avenues in cell signaling research. check out her aperp and be sure to share it with Others!

From December 17th-19th, Tom and Stephanie visted Adam Feinberg's lab out at Carnegie Mellon University for a 3D bioprinting workshop. During those three days, they learned about the new FRESH 3D printing technique pioneered by Professor Feinbergs lab, and they also learned how to modify a Lulzbot mini 2 3D pinter to use that technique. That printer has now found its way back to our lab here in Sydney, so be on the lookout for new FRESH printing research to come from us soon!
